The Writer's Life 1/6 - Migrations & an Epiphany

There are two items that rise above all others in today's NY Post. In a two page spread, Isabel Vincent reveals that, since 2000, 50,000 Jews have made Germany their home. Nazis slimes must be turning over in their graves... In an op-ed piece, Joe Levine offers a novel idea for the producers of the Oscars, who are having a hard time finding someone to host, a thankless position in recent years. He suggests naming someone like arch-conservative James Woods, he of the astronomical IQ and sharp tongue. Now that's an epiphany. On Aug. 3 he was hired by the Twins. He appeared in 18 games over the final two months, and enjoyed his first effective stretch as a pro. It failed to convince management to keep him, and he was again placed on waivers and claimed by the Rays on Nov. 1. He wound up with the Jays again three weeks later on a waiver, then was traded back to the Rays on Friday. Pitchers Octavio Dotel and Edwin Jackson share the record for the most MLB franchises played for in a career, 13, so Drake has a ways to go to catch up, but at this pace...

My thanks to the woman who jump started the floating book shop, buying Spanish for Dummies and three books in Russian; and to the young man who purchased Stephanie Meyer blockbusters Twilight and New Moon; and to the gentleman who selected a thriller in Russian that has a snake baring its fangs on its colorful jacket.
