The Writer's Life 12/2 - Additions & Laughs

I'm one-third of the way through the third and, probably, final proof-reading of the file of the novel I will self-publish in January. The lead female character is blond, hence the photo. Here are lines I've added:
She: "I'd do porn if I wasn't afraid my pop'd find out. It would hurt him so much." I may add this: "It's a great way to make quick cash. You should do it. It'd loosen you up."
He smirked.

Inside the male character's head: It was always interesting to hear how others viewed him. He recalled Evelyn saying he was “a very serious person.” He’d had no idea he was perceived as such. (A friend's wife once said that to me, and that was my reaction.)

“You make it so easy for guys. What d’you expect people to think?”
“If we were being honest we’d admit we make it easy for ourselves.”
He was stunned by the comment. It seemed to make so much sense. He would have to think about it.

There were two very amusing items in today's NY Post: In his sports media columns, Phil Mushnick frequently laments how many modern MLB players do not run hard, which occasionally costs a team a run and, on rare occasions, a win. A clever reader suggested that the ground-rule-double be downgraded to a single... The Reverend Al Sharpton has sold the rights to his life story for $551,000 - to his own charity, The National Action Network. Life never fails to deliver.

Because of rain and the unavailability of a favorable parking spot, I didn't open the floating book shop until 1:30, and I did so only with DVD's, CD's, books in Russian and a couple of shoe boxes filled with paperbacks. The scaffold came through once again. My thanks to the gentleman who bought a book on relieving stress, and to the other who purchased three DVD's and a Harry Connick Jr. Christmas album.
