The Writer's Life 8/1 - Red-Handed

There's a new email scam. I received a phish yesterday and immediately deleted it - to my regret, as it's perfect fodder for the blog. I ran a search and found lots of articles on it. There's more than one variation. Here's the text most similar to the one I got, edited slightly by yours truly, my remarks in parentheses:
"Hello, victim (my actual name was inserted). I text you because you are 1 of those people that downloaded the malware from the visited porn site. When you went on that site you let a virus collect all your private data and switched on your camera that shoot the act of your masturbation (I placed a piece of black electric tape over it months ago.). After that my virus made a copy of your contact list. I will not share this video and data if I receive 330 Euros in bitcoin. This is address to pay: [Removed] I give you 30 hours after you open my message to complete the payment. It is not necessary to tell me that you have sent money to me. This address is given only to you, my system will delete everything automatically after transaction confirmation. If you need 48 hours just reply on this letter with +. You can visit the police station but they cant solve your problem. I am foreigner. So nobody can trace me even for 6 weeks. Bye. Dont forget about the disgrace." (Let everybody know.)
I wonder if anyone will fall for it. It seems so lame. Why would anyone believe the perps would be satisfied after one payment? Then again, these scams exist because of the gullible amongst us.

How interesting that President Trump has criticized the Koch brothers, long the embodiment of evil in the eyes of the left despite millions charitable donations. The rift stems from the failure to back the Republican candidate for a North Dakota senate seat, Kevin Cramer, who is cited by the brothers as free-spending, and protectionist on trade. They regret having supported GOP congressman who have not toed the line on profligate spending, and I don't blame them. They are backing GOP candidates running in Tennessee, Florida and Wisconsin. Trump dubbed the brothers "globalists" and "over-rated." I don't know what to think of this. I hope they unify, despite their differences.

No sales at the floating book shop on the first day of August. I don't recall the last time I suffered a goose egg. Back at 'em tomorrow.
