RIP character actor extraordinaire Robert Loggia, 85, an Italian-American born Salvatore in NYC, a graduate of New Dorp H.S.. Before embarking on his chosen path, he earned a degree in journalism at the University of Missouri-Columbia. At IMDb he has 229 credits listed under his name, not counting multiple appearances on TV shows and a few series of his own that did not run for more than one season. He was nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his work in Jagged Edge (1985). He directed an episode each of Hart to Hart and Quincy M.E., and two of Magnum P.I.. My first recollection of him was as the star on The Nine Lives of El Fego Baca, which aired serially, 10 episodes, in 1958 as part of the Wonderful World of Disney. He frequently played Hispanics, most memorably in Scarface (1983). His last three performances have yet to be released. Well done, paisano.
