Selling My Books on the Streets of Brooklyn 6/3 - The Unexpected

A picture is worth a thousand words.

This occurred on a German beach. Moments late the pilot crashed. Fortunately, no one was killed.

Yesterday I said I had mixed feelings about the swap of Bowe Bergdahl for five terrorists. After reading and hearing about it, I now believe it's a disaster. What was the administration thinking? And not only was the move questionable tactically, it may have been so constitutionally as well. I tell myself that they can't be this incompetent, that it has to be my conservative nature and bias that makes me think they are. I'm blown away by the firestorm this has created.

I knew it would be a good day on the literary front when I found a royalty check in my mailbox this morning. Granted, it was for only one sale of Close to the Edge, but it was completely unexpected, the best kind. I hauled 18 works of Emile Zola translated into Russian out to my nook, and the gentleman who asked for them showed and paid. Minutes later, a woman noticed the 18 pre-revolution books I had on display, made a phone call to a friend, who told her to buy them. Steve came by to pick up the 15 Time-Life books he paid for the other day, and purchased another. My thanks, folks, and also to the several other kind folks who bought only one book each. The floating book shop resembled an actual business today.
