Selling My Books on the Streets of Brooklyn 6/3 - Rain-out Theater

The sky ominous, the forecast bleak, I didn't open the floating book shop today. Here's a very brief excerpt from my horror screenplay, All Hallows. In it, five nuts escape an asylum and terrorize a small town. After blood flows freely in the first few minutes to establish menace, the story concentrates on fast paced action and narrow escapes. There are tons of references to music, films and TV shows that have kept American entertained for decades. I meant it to be sheer fun:

Part 19: The Sheriff's car, parked before Ozzie's house. Doris calls.
   Sheriff: Whattaya got, beautiful?
Doris: Thank God. I was afraid somethin' happened to you.
   Sheriff: I'm fine. What's up?
Ozzie exits the house, puffing on a pipe, shotgun in one hand, thermos in the other. He
kisses Harriet and approaches the Sheriff's car. His old badge is pinned to his jacket.
Doris: Where's the FBI, for heaven's sake?
Sheriff: Maybe they can't find the town. Did Angel check in yet?
   Doris: You just missed her.
Sheriff: Ring me the minute she calls. Did you lock yourself in?
Doris: Angel asked the same thing. You two sure think alike.
Sheriff: Don't start in on me now. Hey, everything's gonna be all right. Ray Oswald's back on the job.
   Ozzie: Hello, beautiful.
   Doris: Hallelujah, we're saved.
The Sheriff puts down the microphone and hands Ozzie a cellular phone.
Sheriff: Know how to use one of these?
   Ozzie: I'm old, not senile.
Sheriff: "Beautiful" says a complaint just came in from the north side, near the old highway. Some drunk on a motorcycle.
   Ozzie: I'm on it.
Sheriff: Don't be a hero now.
Ozzie: Don't you worry 'bout me. I plan to be at your wake.
The Sheriff chuckles. Ozzie turns away. As he approaches his pickup, he has a flashback of himself boarding an Army truck in Korea. The Sheriff watches as Harriet,
obviously worried, goes inside.
   Sheriff: Damn.

RIP Harvey Korman, 81, who passed away on May 29th. His work with Carol Burnett and Mel Brooks kept Americans laughing through good and bad times. Here's a link to the famous dentist sketch he did with Tim Conway. It is a classic, three minutes of LOL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9T8i4FkNVo
