The Writer's Life 7/8 - Darkness
I'm not surprised by what happened in Dallas. I've sensed a return to the mindset of the late 60's, early 70's for a long time. What has the shooting accomplished? It has only made matters worse. Will it stop black males from killing each other at an alarming rate in Chicago and other urban areas? Will this cause men and women to seek safer professions? Will officers leave the force prematurely or as soon as they are pension eligible? Will those who stay on remain vigilant or will they avoid situations that are potentially dangerous? Many had expected President Obama to heal the nation's racial divide. It has grown, and it looks like it's going to be a long hot summer. Only the far left is happy today -- to the extent they could ever be happy about anything. The majority is saddened and discouraged. Many are angry. I fear for my country. Is there anyone who could effectively lead a nation so divided? This is a dark age in American history. Let there be light.
