The Writer's Life 11/8 - Last Words 2

I failed to find anything interesting in the news today, so I tracked down something bizarre I remembered seeing days ago. Recently, I posted the final words of celebrities just before they passed away. Here are the last words of people about to be executed, courtesy of viewmixed.com. All but one is a murderer. Four of the names are likely to be familiar, their infamy, unfortunately, not having died with them. My comments are in parentheses:
Ted Bundy: “I’d like you to give my love to my family and friends.” (He had friends left?)
Peter Kurten, who killed 60 in Germany: “Tell me. After my head has been chopped off, will I still be able to hear, at least for a moment, the sound of my own blood gushing from the stump of my neck? That would be a pleasure to end all pleasures.” (Beyond crazy, a special category has to be created for someone like this.)
Jimmy Glass, Texas: “I’d rather be fishing.” (He should've gone fishing instead of killing.)
Jeffrey Dahmer: “I don’t care if I live or die. Go ahead and kill me.”
Aileen Wuornos: “I’d just like to say I’m sailing with the rock, and I’ll be back like Independence Day, with Jesus, June 6th. Like the movie, big mother ship and all. I’ll be back.” (Huh? Maybe a sedative made her incoherent.)
Carl Panzram: “Hurry it up, you Hoosier bastard! I could hang a dozen men while you’re screwing around!” (Must have hated basketball.)
Gary Gilmore: “Let’s do it!”
James French: “How’s this for a headline? ‘French Fries’.” (NY Post would have loved it.)
Michel Ney presiding at at his own execution after defeat at the Battle of Waterloo: “Soldiers, Fire!” (A guy you'd want next to you in a foxhole.)
Vince Gutierrez, car jack murderer: “Where’s my stunt double when you need one?”
George Appel: “Well, gentlemen, you are about to see a baked Appel.” (Another the Post might have used as a headline.)
Thomas J. Grasso: "I did not get my SpaghettiOs, I got spaghetti. I want the press to know this." (Awwww!)

My thanks to the three women of color who bought books today in Park Slope. The first bought two works of fiction, the second overpaid for Suze Orman's The Courage to Be Rich, the third purchased A Hitch in Twilight. Thanks also to the elderly gentleman who donated a bag of thrillers in excellent condition, including one by Douglas Corleone, which I've put aside for future reading, provided he is, as his name appears, Italian-American.
