On this day in 1944 approximately 156,000 Allied troops stormed the beaches of Normandy, sounding the death knoll for Nazi evil. According to some estimates, more than 4,000 allied troops lost their lives in the invasion, thousands more were wounded or missing. Those who love liberty are forever in the debt of those brave men, many of whom were teenagers, thousands of miles from home. Their accomplishments are staggering.
