Selling My Books on the Streets of Brooklyn 6/6 - Postmarks

On this date in 1944 allied forces stormed the beaches at Normandy, striking a blow against the evil that sought to dominate the world. Many were teenagers, thousands of miles from home. Some made the ultimate sacrifice. Their accomplishments are staggering. Thank you doesn't say enough.

The next four items are excerpted from today's NY Post:
Here's another compelling argument against abortion (my thought, not mentioned in the article): Miss Pennsylvania Valerie Gatto, 24, who will compete for the Miss USA crown on Sunday, told NBC’s Today show that she wants to use her mom’s rape experience to teach women to be more aware of sexual assault. Gatto graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh. At a very young age, her mother told her: “Something bad happened to me. A very bad man hurt me, but God gave me you.” Here's a pic of Miss Gatto:

Morgan Freeman, Oscar-winning actor and possibly the world’s most recognizable voice, said that the income gap and race are not related. In an interview Tuesday with CNN anchor Don Lemon, Mr. Freeman was asked if race plays a part in wealth distribution, to which he responded: “No. No, I don’t. You and I, we’re proof... Why would race have anything to do with it? ...Put your mind to what you want to do and go for that. It’s kind of like religion to me, it’s a good excuse for not getting there.” I wonder if he will catch any flack from the professional malcontents, who do not tolerate any departure from liberal orthodoxy.

Poetic justice - a scene in the upcoming Sharknado sequel will have a shark eating a woman riding one of the those grotesque city bike rentals.

Finally there is some common sense in storm preparation thinking -- not idiotic carbon restrictions and other measures that would be harmful to the economy and wouldn't change a thing environmentally. The city government is looking into building a shield around lower Manhattan and other areas vulnerable to flooding. Kudos.

It was another good day for the floating book shop. My thanks to all the buyers, especially the woman who purchased nine books, and to Madeline, who donated Brian M. Thomsen's Pasta Fazool for the Wiseguy's Soul, which was immediately pounced on by Steve. I assume Thomsen's mom is Italian.
